Notes on vinification:

The wine is fermented in concrete vats and then aged for 36 months in Slavonian oak, followed by 1 year in bottle.
The Biondi-Santi family has always had an experimental spirit. Ferruccio’s methods – increasing vine density and lowering yields to concentrate flavours in the grapes, the use of native yeasts – would be recognised by any modern viticulturist, and he was an early adopter of barrel ageing (the vast Slavonian oak barrels are still in use today). Vinification style is traditional trying to intervene as little as possible in order to make a true reflection of the terroir where the grapes grow. 
A wine that is spectacular to drink now but also has a phenomenal ageing potential.
